Meenu Subbiah unveils bridal jewellery collection from Vilasam with Thirumana Thiruvizha showcase: Chettinad Edition
Chettinad jewellery is widely misunderstood. Authentic Chettinad jewellery is nothing like the heavy, rigid pieces it is often perceived to be. In fact, it is rooted in flexibility, adaptability, and simplicity. Bridal jewellery should not weigh the bride down,” says Meenu Subbiah, founder and designer at Meenu Subbiah Diamonds.
Founded in 1993 by Meenu Subbiah along with her father, SM Subbiah, the brand is known for for its deep-rooted connection to the Chettinad aesthetic and traditional craftsmanship. The brand has unveiled its new signature creations under its flagship line, Vilasam, for the upcoming wedding season.
Meenu adds that Vilasam’s bridal jewellery is designed to move with the body and enhance natural grace. “This bridal collection is my effort to give every bride that freedom — to be present, graceful, and truly herself. Every piece is a labour of love, crafted by hands that carry five generations of expertise.”
The collection brings together a wide range of handcrafted Chettinad bridal jewellery, including bangles, oddiyanams (hip belt), necklaces, earrings, brooches, and turban ornaments. Every piece is crafted in 22-karat gold, set with Burmese rubies and Colombian emeralds, and defined by the traditional closed-setting technique, where stones are not visible from the back.
Peacock motifs, an integral part of Chettinad jewellery, feature prominently throughout the collection. The “Thirumana Thiruvizha” showcase highlights how flexible gold links have been incorporated to ensure fluidity and comfort for brides. The exhibit will feature 30 statement pieces, with prices starting at ₹4,00,000.
The Vilasam bridal collection will be showcased at Meenu Subbiah’s T Nagar showroom as part of the special “Thirumana Thiruvizha” exhibit, from 24th April until 24th May 2026. 11AM to 8PM. For more details, call: 75500 43736, 99401 03736
